Outcome on the future of the Dayboro clinic

Wednesday, May 18, 2022 - 09:15

Following extended consultation with staff and the community, UQ has made the difficult decision to cease its operation of the Dayboro Veterinary Clinic and to seek a new operator for the site and associated veterinary services.

UQ will continue to operate the clinic, providing services to clients, while the expression of interest process to find a new operator is undertaken. This is expected to take until the end of September.

As part of the decision, UQ will consolidate teaching of veterinary science and veterinary technology students at the Gatton campus.

The decision has not been made lightly and UQ is genuinely committed to supporting staff, students and our valued customers through this process.

Recognising the importance of ongoing veterinary care for the community

UQ will commence an open-market process to identify a new operator to provide veterinary care to the community from the clinic. This will ensure that the community will continue to benefit from local providers of veterinary care. An independent valuer and a commercial agent will be appointed to lead the expression of interest (EOI) process. For further information, email property.team@pf.uq.edu.au.

The EOI process is expected to take until the end of September. UQ will continue to support the clinic operating while the EOI process is ongoing. We will also work with clients and other veterinarians as required to support continuity of veterinary care while we transition to a new operator.

A valued community partnership

UQ is honoured to have been part of the Dayboro community for the past 34 years and we are immensely proud of the clinic’s achievements during this time. We would like to thank the community for their support and our incredible staff who, over the years, have changed the lives of thousands of animals and the people who care for them.
